Guys what was the amount of miles on your trany before the installation of a valve body? Or how long did you wait to do the install? Any bad experiences,or good experiences?

Very Courious:confused:

JSmith:

My stock valve body lasted until I reached 98,000 miles.

The transmission was pretty well stock up until that

point with the exception of having a "Trans-Go" Shift

Kit to raise the line pressure some. I think I was lucky

to have had a stock one last that long!

The only engine mods I had back then was a TST#6

cam plate. At 98,000 miles I began experiencing a

"shudder" when my transmission shifted into overdrive

when I was towing my racing trailer in the mountains.

However, the shudder got worse as time went on.

When the transmission was torn down, they found

that the torque converter was pretty well fried. I

replaced everything at that point and have not had

any more problems. I have about 142,000 miles on

the truck now; probably about 43,000 on the NEW

transmission.

Hope this has helped you some.

It all depends on how you drive and if you tow. I have 163k on my stock AT with only fluid and filter changes every 40k. I use my 5 speed for towing and lock out OD until I hit 55 mph on the AT. Stomping on the throttle at 50 mph in OD will wear things out fast, but it is a nice rush.

well i got my truck when it had 29k completely stock highway miles on it. it has never towed anythign more than a fourwheeler or a bass boat, first thing i did was add a DTT V/B i have been driving it up untl 2 weeks ago when i found out that the front lipseal in my autotranny was going bad do to the higher line pressure cased by the fron lipseal causing the TC to slip and i dont even tow anything. so i am up to ge the full transmission rebuild with all DTT stuff on sat. in my opinion if you are goign to do it go ahead and do the TC as well, the V/B helped but nothing like i wanted, i wished i would have gone with the full upgrade right off the bat. hope this helps,

JSmith,

The more you wait the more you will kick yourself for waiting when you finally upgrade to DTT. Do it now!

I went 60K before I installed the valve body. I have 89K now, and when the transmission gets a rebuild, I will get a TC.
