Thanks for all the responses,Turns out that the decision to buy an 05 was a good one, because

_Last year for the NV 5600

_Last year for the 7/70 (without paying extra).

My only concern is the rate the oil becomes black with soot or ?. Can this have an effect on the amount of miles that will be accumulated??.

Bought mine 5/28/05 and I will hit 13k this weekend. I have cut down on my driving quit a bit due to gas prices. I now realize how much wasted driving I was doing.

Mac... ... ... ... I wouldnt worry about the oil discoloration, come see my 94 :-laf I have flogged it for many years. The 05 has about 5k to date it has seen the 1/4,a fair bit of towing and almost a tank of fuel burnt here (see post 14) https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143842&page=1&pp=15

Got my 05 31st of August & only have 3000 miles on it. Was going to do the first oil change yesterday to get that breakin oil out, but it was too cold out. I guess I'll have to go light a fire in my shop or wait until spring. I may have 5000 on by then. :-laf

Did I mention this truck only comes out to tow my 5vr & I'm preserving it for my retirement in 8yrs. Hurry up retirement Oo. Oo. Oo.

I have about 7K miles on mine of which about 3K was towing. Towed 6K lb Searay

over Wolf Creek Pass to Lake Powell and towed Daughter's Jeep Wrangler and Stuff

from Atlanta to Colo Sprgs on a U-Haul Tandom axle BOAT ANCHOR of a trailor and got

close to 16 mpg. No Problems yet.

Hey Dodge bob. It's me Pat Harold's buddy. I just got back on the TDR the other night. I'm just now coming up for air after 50 night shifts in a row .

I really don't dig how the 05's oil gets so sooty so fast, I guess it's that third injection event BS that Cummins uses to avoid the EGR valve .

Picked mine up this summer. So far I have 11,400 miles on it. I haven't had a chance to really tow with it but for maybe a couple hundred miles... . my Airstream was recently completely restored. Next year I'll be hauling a horse trailer, as well as the Airstream.

My 2005 will be one year old in two weeks. I have 25 k miles on it and 11k of that was towing a Teton Fift Wheel this summer. Best truck for towing on the road.
