Interested in another truck for the signifcant other. She wants one with an auto. I just want to know how they are holding up. She will run it stock and we will tow maybe 15000lbs every now and then.
Bought it Friday the 13th with 770 miles as of today. It's my fifth Dodge/Cummins but first with an Automatic (1 Getrag, 1 NV4500, 2 NV5600). I drive an International Tanker tractor-trailer to pay for it so I gave up shifting on my own time. I read hundreds of 48RE posts and conducted several G56/48RE test drives before going auto. I am happy with it.
I got 14000 on mine, noticed when I towed my camper home that I was getting a vibration on take off that wasnt there before, but it dont do that empty,so I will have to get them to look at it.
26,000 miles loaded to the max GVWR 95% of the time from sea level to over 10,000' elevation and many steep grades. No problems and shifts like the day I bought it. I traded in a NV5600 for it and am still very pleased with my choice.
29K on mine and the TC was slipping with the edge hot juice on 1. Took off the edge. Hit 250* while snow plowing but still shifts good with no box. Time for a aux. cooler and double deep trans pan.
