I am wondering how long these things last without problems or untill they mysteriously fall off:eek:

Mine has 60k and no problems and no codes or overhead messages

got 21k here, but the mileage is making me think more about ditching it. getting 12mpg hiway/city on a single wheel 3500, loaded at 8500lbs tho. (but my old 05 got 16-17)

Mine has 20,000 miles on it, now it is collecting dust in the garage attic.

20,000+ miles DPF free and running great.

40K. Running great. Latest reflash seemed to boost performance. most notably throttle response is much better. But in the end, the exhaust pipe is black as coal. To all you whose systems have fallen off or been stolen etc. Was it worth it? I'm thinking about it. Mostly because I miss the exhaust sound of my 03.

thanks

It'll never sound like an '03 unless you change more than just the DPF but it'll get closer if you delete it! I really like the sound of my 4" TBE. Quieter than the 5. 9s but still beefy.

12,000 miles and mine got replaced a few months ago due to a code stating it was clogged. Did not notice anything different. The code just came on one day and took it in the next.

Maybe I am not driving it enough. About 1/2 the mileage was pulling a 5k lbs travel trailer at interstate speeds (about 73 mph is my norm for pulling) so it was getting worked a bit.

Mine made around 150,000 miles before it cracked and started showing black in the exhaust pipe. The mechanic I use said if you get 150-175,000 miles that would be the max and you would be lucky to get that.

I'm curious. . if a truck has the DPF intact, and you start the truck in the morning, does it still have a diesel smell until things get up to temp, like my '06 does?

Mine smells like some weird propane heater running... like its runnin rich or something . (i do water heater repair, so I've seen some bad exhausts in my time). But my tailpipe looks brand new, even at 22k miles. . no hint of black.

Def doesnt smell like diesel, and doesnt sound like my old 96 at all. . Just waitin for that 100k mark so I can sawzall that pos off

50k on mine and so good so far... however. Mike Mullenax is a mechanic from Texas who posts on here quite a bit. Some time back he did a really good informative post on the DPF filter and regeneration... . and he stated that if your exhaust pipe is black then the filter is cracked. Mine has been black since day one. Kinda worried about that now. I will have to look up that post thread and recheck it all but the truck has been into several dealers to be checked for related exhaust DPF issues... and no mechanic has ever said anything. Talked to one dealer mechanic and he said that all diesel exhaust pipes are black no matter what. I think Mike is right but what is one to do if they refuse to honor the warranty?

My '08 has just under 97k on it. I"ve never had any problems with the truck or emissions equipment. It set a CEL once at under 30k but by the time I hooked up my fiver and drove 300 miles to the dealer where I bought it (can't trust the local dealer) the CEL cleared itself and never returned.
