Can anyone supply me with how many different models there are of the HX-40 that we install in our trucks?

Part 2, what is the differences between them??

TIA

Between the HX-40 and HX-40W, the Holset catalog lists 20 different part numbers.

The variances are different turbine housings, wastegates and non-wastegated, and different turbine and compressor trims.

Thanks Keith, now part 2... ... ... ... ... ... . if you don't mind.

Is there a major difference in horsepower increases between these 20 different models? (ie: let's say I have DD2's and an EDGE COMP, with an HY35 (34psi) (ok, that IS what I have); I produced 350. 2rwhp (corrected), if I switch to an HX40 (any model) what do you think is the maximum hp increase I would achieve??)

I know this is knid of lengthy and hypothetical, but, I've been kicking some thoughts around and would like more info. I would like to crank 400rwhp with a dually.

Thanks in advance

Best regards,

George

George:

My "Piers Modified HX-40/16" gave me 27 more H. P.

at the rear wheels than I had before. Piers' "mods"

eliminate the "lag" or hesitation that is present with

the "stock" HX-40's. My "stock" unit had the lag Jim

talked about but it is GONE now that Piers did his

"majic work. "

Hope this helps you some.

I had the chance to drive JohnP's red rocket a few weeks ago ... and I can tell you there is NO noticable lag with the Piers Magic HX40 ..... all I can say is ... WOW

George, the biggest difference between them is what you get. Most will want a 16cm2 wastegated turbine housing, which limits the numbers down to about 5-6 I believe. Picking the right one (which is where the R&D of the co. you decide to buy from comes in) is the key. Some blow up, others don't, with what us performance guys put them through.

HP wise, it depends on the HP level of the truck as to how much you will gain. At the 350hp level, I have seen the 40 be worth about 25hp over your stock HY. At the 420hp level, I've seen it add 40+ hp.
