Most automotive evaporators are relativly trouble free,but DC has had a lot of problems. We replace them frequently on the Rams and Jeep Cherokee's. Seemed to be worse in the 96-98 model years,and have been improving since then. We actually stopped using the dealer units and switched to aftermarket,after having several leak after only 5-6 months.
Also R134 is much more corrosive than the older R12 which can eat them out from the inside,reducing the lifespan of the component.
