How many qaurts of ATF in DD pan?

Just ordered a DD transmission pan and want to get the Amsoil ATF ordered to. How many qaurts should I order and is the Amsoil Universal what I want?

Amsoil Universal is the one, if you chose to run ATF+4 ( I use ATF+3) Figure on about 12 qts if you drain the pan & Valve Body.

Figure on about 22 qts if you have an aftermarket T/C with a drain.

Just a stock transmission, puttin the DD on for cooler temps. Sig didn't show up the 1st time. I have an 2002 so need the ATF 4. I was hoping 12 qts would do it.

DD pan alone should hold about 2 gallons - drop the valve body for a better/fuller drain, and get another gallon...

Just did mine... . 18-20 quarts if you drain the pan + TC.

I put my DD pan on at my 1000 mile service and with it dry as well as the converter it took almost 5 gals of amsoil, If I drop the pan now, just the pan holds 2 1/2 gals. James told me amsoil was good for 30k till it needs to be changed.

I just chage the fluid on my father truck last night. It took about 13 to 16 quarts. Sorry I cant be more accurate, because I was using 2. 5gallon containers. It took 2. 5 gallons then had to add about 3-5 qts from second container.

14 quarts here with a stock transmission. That was dropping the pan and loosening the valve body.

D White, if you just dropped the pan, figure on 10-11 qts. If you loosen the VB bolts, figure on 4 more qts. Easily 14-15 qts. total.

Thanks guys, I ordered 5 gallons. Be some left over for the next change. Rather have to much than not enough and get stuck ordering again.
