Ronald Reagan has passed away

Interesting facts about Social Security

I have been reading it for some years now,but the new issue has come out were they compare the half tons,Tundra,Titan,Dodge,Ford F150 Chevy silverado. Well it basically said the Dodge had terrable brakes and was the worst truck of the bunch, but was second quick to the Titan, and was the thirstiest of all the trucks.

I am wondering if there isnt some bias in there magazine, they seem to bash Dodge quite a bit. Also they said the Chevy was squeeky and rattled but made it a best buy.

what do you guys think?

My wife thinks it is the gospel. I am of the opinion that money and political correctness influence some if not all of their tests/surveys. bg

CR is reputed to be squeaky clean in its reports but I get a little annoyed when their evaluation of many products results in a "no longer available" notation. Yes, they do SEEM to bash Dodge, but I think they look for different qualities than do us "truck" buyers. I notice their usual comments refer mainly to passenger car qualities such as ride, noise levels and fuel consumption. The one thing you can't fault is that Toyota, et al, has a much better reliability record than most U. S. products, but I do think I'd stack my '99 3500 4x4 with any import.

Another TDR member has posted that Consumer's Reports is just another Pro-Commie, Hate-America group. Is this true?

I can't stand that magazine. Once-in-a-while, my wife will bring one home, if it features something we're shopping for. But, when you really read the articles, you find out how biased they really are. Especially when it comes to American vs foriegn cars. For example, I saw one comparison where they ragged on a Chrysler for its paultry acceleration, and raved about how zippy a Toyota was. But, if you actually compared the times, the Chrysler was much faster. Just the wording would lead you to believe the American was junk (you'd never want to buy a "slow" car), and the Jap car, just sparkled. Not sure why, but their mentality refuses to believe an American product could ever be better than a foreign one (which, BTW, occasionally does happen).

CR is bull. They bash American products and love foreign ones. I remeber reading one where they listed all of the models of this one vehicle. The ones with one engine had a great interior while the one with another engine was junk. Yea right.

Consumer reports isn’t worth a dam when it comes to rating pickups.

Like everyone else already said, they don’t base their ratings on what is important to truck owners. If I wanted my Dodge to feel, ride, and sound like a Honda accord, I would hope that someone would put me out of my misery. They seem to totally miss the mark when it comes to rating some things, like pickups, and other equipment, like mowers etc.

Big waste. Just like any other magazine. The more you advertise. The more they like you.

All I do is go to websites like tdr to get opinions on products.

Fish Wrap

I had a subscription to CR for years in the early 90's. I finally had my fill with their political liberalism when their editor wrote a column praising national health care and her encouragement of CR's readers to contact their reps/senators to support it.

I called them and canceled my subscription that night!

As for car reviews, anything short of a solar powered go-cart is an "evil polluting machine". I'm sure that the editors pat themselves on the back for their view on what the public should be driving ... as they themselves drive home in their big SUV's.

I've never cared much for Dodge engineering or service. The primary reason I bought a Dodge PU is the diesel.

As for CR; I've rarely been able to find their top rated energy efficient products available in any stores.
