Personally, I do not like to get below about 12,000 rounds, you know, just in case. Most of mine however are . 22's, I think they are the best because they don't take up much space. My assault rifle is a . 22 magnum auto rifle, yeah it's all legal.

I try to keep about 1000 rounds of ammo around the house for each weapon that I have. Takes a rather large gun safe just to hold the ammo.

I used to keep upwards of 5000 rounds because I was shooting every day. Thinking about it there are probably about 2000 rounds of various stuff around. Of course I could fire up the Dillon 550 and get back to prior levels in a short time. The way I figure I should have enough to take the other guys if needed.

I think the . 22s' are a very good caliber to keep up in supply.

About 3,000 rounds of 7. 62x51, 1,000 of 7. 62x39, and only a couple hundred each of 5. 56x45 & . 22LR. The lack of 5. 56 is a money thing, the lack of . 22LR is because it's too easy to shoot everything you just bought, along with some of what you still had! Oh, and I'm really short on 12-gauge.

I keep at least the components for 10,000 . 223 (for 3 rifles) and 5000 . 308, 2000 . 45 acp, 2000 38 super, 2 cases 12 ga buckshot and 1 case slugs. plus many bricks . 22 RF and many components for just about any caliber in general use today.

when I tell people how much I keep on hand, they look at me like I'm some sorta gun nut, you know. I think it is my duty as a citizen to be ready for anything that might occur. All of my firearms AND ammo is in the safe, away from children and thieves, so it is not like I am storing in a irresponsible manner. And no I don't work for the government, although as a taxpayer, I guess you could say we all do!

A few thousand. Someone stole a case (500 rds. ) of 9mm a month ago when house got broken into.

They didn't get my guns out of my safe though.

I'll never tell...............

What's more important is that you have reloading supplys.

I have the feeling that all this may be gold someday.

As a general rule, I used to try to keep 1000 rounds for each gun I own, and enough reloading supplys to reload at least twice that with the brass. 4X is better. :D

I was broken into a few weeks ago. They didnt get a G-D thing. :D

The house was alarmed (scared them off as soon as they got in) but it's now like Ft Knox.

Gee compared to you guys I feel inadequate... :p I have about 1000rds of . 22 about 200rds of 30-30 and 30-06, 100rds of 12 gauge buck shot, and about 50 rds of 8mm. . I wish I could get more of the 8mm but they are hard to find and usually quite expensive when you do find them:(

Is lots an adequate answer? Well if not then I have about 1500 12ga, 500 10ga, 500 20ga (I duck hunt alot). Loaded rounds for the rifles amount to about 2000 rounds but I have about 200lbs of powder, 2000 rounds of brass, 10000+ primers, and 10000+ bullets:D. ATF already knows me by all those Damn yellow papers I've had to fill out.

Well if you must know

In the Blank Compound of Insanity I keep many a rounds of ammo (I don't know how many but the storage room is plum full), a few hundred rockets for the antitank launchers, 12 cases of grenades, and 2,000 gallons of fuel for the flame throwers. ;)

At the house the #'s are a little more limited but not by much. :)

Question of the day:

Does any one know were I can purchase a like new tracked personnel carrier?:p ( for hunting of course ):D

Thanks

Darrell

I have only 500 rounds of . 22 rimfire. I am sure that before I got to use all of that in a firefight, either I or the perpetrators would be dead or incapacitated or the the SWAT team would have arrived.
