How many run with the fridge on?

KevinK,

I have had an exhaust brake on my truck for several years now, and would never have one of these trucks without one installed. My truck is a 94, so the automatic transmission is not electronic, and I do have a mystry switch installed so I can lock the TCC when I want and do every time the exhaust brake is activated.

This has been one of the best investments I have made on my truck!

Are you sure the 94 transmission is not electronic? because my 92 is. I had Black box, CPU whatever it is called on a truck go out and transmission would shift erraticly not go into OD no cruise no speedo.

Eric_77,

As I recall, the transmission I have is mechanicly controlled, and uses a mechanical govoner. The only thing that is electronicly controled is the overdrive and TCC lockup. Someone correct me if I am wrong!

"There is no price on peace of mind" is what my Dad always taught me. I would not be without an ebrake. I use it everyday... ... ..... ;)

Thanks for all of your input. It appears that the overwhelming opinion is that the exhaust brake is the only way to go. Part of the reason that I have been hesitant is because I would really like a four-door truck. I'm not sure how long my seven-year-old will be able to comfortably ride in the back. It's a sad fact that you can not recoup much for enhancements when selling a truck.

It looks like I'll byte the bullet and get the transmission upgrades and the brake.

Thanks again,

Kevin

Absolutely the best option for the money I've added to my truck. If you had to take away everything I've added (even the more power stuff) but one, I'd have to keep the exhaust brake. I'm sorry I had a diesel pu for years before I got my first exhaust brake. If I ever trade, the exhaust brake goes on the new truck first.

On my previous 94 2500 when I purchased the fiver (15,000 lbs) and took it for a short shake down I encountered a 6-7% 8 mile grade. By the time I got to the bottom and could see through the smoke from the brakes I decided then I would never tow again without an exhaust brake. Went directly to the dealer and had one installed. First thing I did on the y2k was the e-brake. Then went to DTT and had the valve body & tc installed. Wouldn't be without one. I hate the smell of burning brakes!
