Have'nt posted for a while, nothing to complain about actually. I had that dam vibration wow wow sound till it drove me nuts. Then someone suggested I haul a little weight to perhaps seat and align this big beast; and hey, what the heck, it sounded like a good ideal to me. So,s I go out and by me the biggest dam 5th wheel I figure won,t get me in law trouble with the law and haul the dam thing all over the place especially up and down big nasty hills, almost small mountains even. And heavens to mer-ga-troid guess what, no more vib wow wow sound. Even when I,m not haulin no wow wow vib stuff. So if you can spare it go get yourself a 14,000 trailer and you,ll straighten er right up.

For what it's worth...

This is part of a post I did early last year on a different thread:

"I contacted American Axle the other day to follow up on their progress for a solution to the problem of the "cycling" vibration that jungledave is referencing. Their assessment of the problem points to normal harmonics from the axles (85 mhz) phasing in and out with the normal harmonics (185 mhz) from the Cummins which is passed on through the transfer case. The drive shaft is acting, more or less, as a bowstring between the two vibration points and ideally "would" have canceled the two vibrations using an appropriate internal damper at each end. They have successfully solved the problem in the two wheel drive units, but the four wheel drive units are presenting additonal problems in getting the 185 herts damper fitted to the transfer case end of the shaft. When, and if, they succeed, that should solve the problem. In any event, they indicated that this cycling vibration problem should not cause any damage to the drive train and that the drive shaft itself had been tested at full load/stress under these conditions for well past the designated duration without failures. Like others have said, maybe it doesn't cause damage, but it's pretty damn annoying never the less. "

Additionally, I also remember the engineer I spoke with indicating that they had told DC, during the design phase, that without the additional damper, there would likely be harmonic vibration issues. Evidently, DC didn't want to hold up release of the new line and decided to just roll ,em out. I never have heard if AA solved the second internal damper problem.

Well I haul an 11,000 lb trailer and I still have the vibes. After this weeks camping trip it is going in for its first service and first complaints about the vibe issue. I will also be getting the door seals replaced as they are so tore up that they are now making more wind noise.

Haven't posted in a long time, this is the 3rd 3500 for me and the 1st with the dreaded vibe. I have had front/rear driveshafts replaced, tires balanced, carrier bearing angle changed, still have the vibe. Sent off my lemon law notice last week :(... I just hope they can fix it because I don't want to go searching for another truck.

Ended up lemon-lawing it. :{

But, I finally got back into a 6 speed :D

Now, it is my turn to shake, rattle and roll.

After a grand time hunting in Wyoming for a week, my truck started displaying the "vibe". It starts at 68 MPH and stops I don't know where as I am not willing to make the truck shake itself apart. I was wondering if putting the truck into 4 wheel drive has anything to do with this issue since I never had the problem before. I have an appointment with the dealership to look at it tomorrow.

I agree with many that have posted here that this is a poor excuse for a vehicle that costs so much. Why doesn't Toyota make a one ton, diesel? I'd buy it in a heart beat.

This website is very helpful for the information it provides. However after reading about all of the problems owners are having with their RAMS, I wonder why anyone would want to have Daimler-Chrysler "RAM" it up their tailpipes.

Steering column

6,200 miles. Since new heard annoying vibration noise at mid-hi speeds. turns out that if I press down on the top portion of steering column just behind steering wheel noise goes away. Thinking of placing a pencil eraser (or similar) between steering column and gage dashboard. Stock Michelin LTX tires, stock everything.

You are correct. Most, if not all, of the problem vehicles are auto 4x4's.

Umm, my 6spd (NV5600) does it too... not just autos... the dealer told me that they had very little problems with the autos.

I have 2100 miles on mine, and no (hopefully no) vibration yet... . Does miles on the truck have anything to do with it?

You either have the vib or you don't... it was in mine at mile 150 when I got the truck... it is still here at 55,000. If you don't and you get a vib, it is most likely something else.

My vib went away at EVERY speed (you don't realize how bad it is until it is gone!!) when I pulled the front driveshaft out... it has to be the culprit... if a new shaft is the answer, a dynatrac hub kit is.

For what is it worth. I have never had the dredded "vibe", but when I bought my crank sensor from RoKKtech I also ordered the "Vibration Elimination Kit" and it did help. I have almost zero vibration in the steering wheel now. I had a little bit of vibration at idle, but nothing like the 70mph vibe. I think the kit was like $70. It was designed for the 03 to 04. 5 truck but can be used on newer truck to refine the driving comfort even more. With the kit installed and my Kore system this truck drives like most cars, very comfortable.

Just another option some of you may want to try

Death To Vibrations

Well dodge isnt the only one with the vibes.

i work for chevrolet as a tech, driveline vibrations are a pain in the but. #@$%!

most high speed vibrations are driveshaft vibes. if the front shaft was taken off and it went away, thats your source. try balancing with hose clamps.

its not the purtyest but it works. have someone spin the driveshaft or lift the wheels and put in gear in 4x4, and take a marker/grease pencil and mark the shaft. the spot that doesent have a mark, that is the low spot. thats where the head of the clamp goes. If it gets worse just play with the clamp or clamps, also to split the weight of one hose clamp put them about 65* on either side of the center of the low spot. that equals half of one clamp

its a long tedious process but I've taken some serious vibrations away with it.

good luck.

Ive never been so dissapionted

I got the vibes to. mine is a 07 ram qaud cab 4x4 larimie ctd auto. I bought it with 8700 miles on it,I didnt test drive it on the highway. A couple of days after purchasing it I took it for an hr long trip up the highway and noticed the vib at 70 up. Ive had the rear driveshaft replaced angles checked changed tires checked tire pressure & balance,I even took the new driveshaft to a local shop to have the balanced checked. still vibrating. Ive put the truck on jack stands in my garage & had a buddy run her up to 70+ while I checked things out underneath,I know not the smartest thing to do but I paid alot for this truck ,and its driving me crazy:#@$%! anyway the vibration seemed to be strongest at the transfercase tailshaft + it seems to have a little play in the slipyoke,so im dropping her off to the dealer tonight there going to replace the whole tailshaft + bearing. If this doesnt cure the problem I will file for lemon law. Its to bad because I really like the truck, but I will not accept this from dc top of the line truck
