the tires I have on there now we run 60 psi in the front

and 50psi in the back

it helpe keep the truck from going all over the road
 
I would suspect you're original tire sticker inside the door specifies load range "E" tires; but the load range "D" tires I had (also 285 75x16) had higher load capactities than the stock 245 75x16 the truck should have had. The major difference I saw was LR "E" runs at a max pressure of 80 or so PSI and the LR "D" ran at a lower pressure (60 PSI? can't remember). The "E"'s should give a stiffer sidewall even though they're not rated for as much weight. The "D"'s probably ride better unloaded.
 
will the d rated tires fit the bill whats the diffrence in the d tire and the E

i'm going with the bfg MT tires 285/75/16 on stock rims

The difference is 8 ply or 10 ply rating. Does it make a difference? I do not believe it does for most things. I did go to a LR E tire for my truck when I put the '04 wheels on, since it had them. I also tow a very large fifth wheel so I wanted to be sure and have the stiffest sidewall I could have (short of going to the 19. 5" conversion). I would guess that if you're not a heavy load carrying, heavy trailer towing person, it will make no difference.
 
after having D and E rated tires, I will never, ever use D rated tires again. Way too squirrely compared to most load range E's at any pressure!



That said, I run my Toyo M-55s at 55 front and 50 rear. So far, I have gotten bery good wear after about 25K. I do rotate every oil change.

E-Rated 285-75-16 K. O. 's are now available. Discount tires quoted me $206. 00/tire. Get 'em. Peace of mine,there is a difference.
 
I have 265's on a stock rim. I've been running max air pressure because they were wearing on the outer edges a little when I was running 55-65 psi.

Trying to get them wear even. :D
 
I run Michelin 285/75-16Ds and tow a 10K trailer. When towing I air up at 65 psi front and rear and running empty, 55 psi front, 45 psi rear with no problems. If I was hauling a 5ver, I'd definitely look into load range Es or better yet, a dually.

I got over 60K out of my stockers. I ran the fronts at 65 psi and the rears at 55-60.



Rotated every 5K.



They were very flat, just worn.
