The major difference I saw was LR "E" runs at a max pressure of 80 or so PSI and the LR "D" ran at a lower pressure (60 PSI? can't remember). The "E"'s should give a stiffer sidewall even though they're not rated for as much weight. The "D"'s probably ride better unloaded.
