Anybody have any idea what it costs to paint a 1st gen black? Since they all have paint problems it would have to be sanded down to the primer. I've never had an entire vehicle painted before.

before i had a buddy paint mine for me i was quoted anywhere between 2100 and 2500 with some body damage. my buddy did it for half that.

Now there's an idea. I'll wait until the wallpapering party for the kids room, and we'll have a matching set.

hmmmm... ... a kids room at Junior's. I guess that would make him...

Oo. "Junior Jr. " Oo.

Having mine done as we speak.

The local body shop is stripping off remainder of the peeling paint, and doing a few hail dents, scratches. Then going with a solid blue, pinstripes, and Rhinolined bed. Right in the area of 1850 without the rhino, around 2200 I am thinking with the rhino... Picking it up next week. . Will let you know.

I have done many homemade paint jobs. Without a good paintbooth and equipment, forget it. Two stage paint, color and clear with metalics are too easily messed up, just a little dirt, water, gun malfunction, start over! :(

very cool... I wouldn't think about painting it myself.

Pink Bunnies... ... hmmmm... ... . ya know why not. I was recently ticketed for dirty license plates. Why not antagonize them more I always say.

I have had two first gens repainted in the past couple of years, One in so. Cal and the other in huntsville Alabam, they each ran me 1500 no rust or damage to deal with though. and it seems unless you get a very expensive job there is going to be little dust fragments that seem to settle on the paint like fat on you can guess what. Both jobs were good quality and original colors. I checked out several franchise shops an was scared away by slick willie salesmen. I used independent shops both times recomended by local custom parts shops. good luck.

Southpaw & Others,

Did the body shop take the old paint down to the "original" primer or to the metal?

Does anyone know, "for certain", which is the BEST way to do a repaint regarding stripping the old paint?

Anyone with experience with Maaco?

My '91 looks like crap!!! Everytime I drive it, it has less paint on it than when I left for the drive. Other than the paint, it's a great truck & I love it.

Thanks.

when i had my truck re-painted last year(while i was still living in pa), it ran me about 1600 bucks. there were a couple dents, and a ton of rock chips that needed fixed... .
