B-99 versus Standard Diesel in mileage

I ran a distance test for mileage performance between B-99 and standard diesel. This is the result:

2005 2wd 2500 Dodge Cummins TD-no load-strictly truck weight and two passengers

Area Driven: Delaware to SW NY and Back

One way miles: 380

B-99 mpg-18 Fuel cost for B-99 $3. 00 per gallon

Standard Diesel mpg-21. 5 Fuel Cost for Standard diesel $2. 90 per gallon

B-99 gallons used on first leg- 21@ $3. 00=$63. 00

Standard diesel gallons used on return- 17. 67@ $2. 90=$51. 24

Fuel Volume difference- 3. 33 gallons

Trip cost difference between B-99 and Standard Diesel=$11. 76 more for B-99

Considering these are highway miles with an average speed of 65 mph, anyone driving 1000 miles or more a month, all highway, would cost the driver $31. 77 more for B-99 use.

I think you can understand that commercial drivers are likely to shy away from B-99 until the price gets lower than standard diesel. And this does not factor in the costs of filters and possible fuel line replacement for older vehicles.

It is a shame that so few states give the end used any tax benefit for purchasing B-99.

In Delaware, the producer/retailer gets the tax break, yet it does not seem to reach the customer at the pumps.

$2. 74 in Pensacola. Anywhere from 8 to almost 30 cents cheaper than #2 here. I'm getting about a mile less a gallon but the engine LOVES it. It's almost as quiet as my '04 was.

2. 74 for B100 i Pensacola @ Tgills

With regular #2 in the 2. 90 range doesn't seem to be as much saving money wise considering worse fuel milage with b100.

This tanks is mixed with about 50% regular diesel so I see what milage I get outta this. Gonna change my filter in a few minutes and see what I looks like after 4 1/2 tanks of bio.

Just think of it as giving a big FU to the Saudi's, Venezuela and Mexico, then.
