All bombers, how much boost do you run (non o-ringedheads) and for how many miles.

Also please mention your engine type 12/24/ETH and if you have had any turbo failures (OEM turbos).

TIA

Stock head gasket and last few turbos I run around 40 to 45lbs of boost. Depending on which turbo/which injectors are in the truck.

With my HX40 it was around 38psi... ... blew that up at the dragstrip.

with the PDR HX35 ran around 35psi.

with HY35 ran around 30psi.

HHhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm... .

I can do about 42psi with the stock turbo... . and I normally get about 32 with the boost elbow for daily driving.

Am I going to have a problem with the turbo????

I can get 44psi out of my stock turbo, but don't like to because I know it is wayyyyyyy off of the map. I don't know how to mess with the wastegate, so I haven't tried to dial it down to where it should be. 101K miles.

I push my HO to 45 psi's most everyday, no problems yet but I plan on the o-ring fix when it eventually occurs. I'm no expert but I believe the longevity of the headgasket in relationship to boost really depends on how you build the boost. I like to ease into the boost and only do so when everything is nice and warm.

I ran 38-40 for 60K miles on a stock turbo in a 01 H. O. Never had a problem. I purchased an HX40 from Piers and ran some BD 8's for about a month at 48-50psi..... 507 RWHP. The turbo lived... the head gasket left the planet twice in a two week period. I adjusted the wastegate to 45 and backed off on injectors and it worked great until I traded it. I don't believe the H. O. cares for more than 45... speaking from my own experience... . CJ
