I used 2 qts of valvoline 3/4 synthetic, took almost all of both to get it nice and clean.

One bleed screw snapped off, spent 3 hours with an easy out, never got all of it out. $38 at Checker for a reman 8,800# caliper.

Also installed speed bleeders... bleeding was enjoyable with those speed bleeders.

copy thanks, got speed bleeders sitting on my counter and will be putting in this weekend. Luckily I never seized the bleeders last time I did brakes so hopefully they come out easy, already hitting with PB Blaster though just in case.

I'm planning using the valvoline synthetic DOT 3/4 fluid to and will use my new Motive Power Bleeder which on the way :). I was planning on 2 qts but I'll pick u[ 2 qts and acouple of pints too just incase.

The motive products bleeders are sweet. I really like mine. If you suck out all of the brake fluid from the reservoir it won't take that much to get the fluid to run clear at the wheels.

If the bleeder wont free up sometimes a light tap on the end with a hammer will help.

well got the speed bleeders in no problem ( I anti seize the stock ones last time I did brakes, so they came right out).

Bled the system with my new Motive power bleeder, which was a piece of cake.

Ran about 2qts of fluid through to make sure everything was clean and fresh (first time flushing the fluid since I got the truck new in 01! I know I know).

removed as much fluid from the resivor as I could get with a turkey baster (there was chunks of stuff, streaky "snot" etc, LOL).

Then bled the system. Ended up with a jug of what looked like Root Beer, LMAO, wow. Dont know why I ever put this off, pretty easy job (did front pads, bleeders and bled system in about 2 hours).

Replaced fluid with Valvoline Dot 3/4 synthetic fluid.

Planning on flushing system every couple of years from now on. There is a noticibly difference in pedal feel not, very firm not spongy!

Glad it worked out for you. I believe they recommend flushing every 2 years. Mine is overdue but being in Arizona I think I can stretch it to 3 years. Guess I will find out what it looks like at 3 years and then decide if 3 is the number or go back to 2. The Motive flusher is nice, plus there is no yelling pump it up, hold it, pump it up and on and on and on for four brakes. I do not miss those days at all.

yep the motive bleeder and the addition of the speed bleeders on all four corners makes it almost fun to bleed the brakes, almost!

The motive system and the speed bleeders would be worth every cent even if they were double the price.

thanks for the change interval too
