How Much Does My Truck Weigh?

I was at the dump today with my 18 ft car hauler and asked the lady at the window what my weight was..... 8900 lbs!!! The trailer and myself, I figured about 2000 lbs. That leaves my truck at almost 7000 lbs. The title has it at 6000 lbs. What's the deal?

My 4wd dually weighs in at 8030 lbs at the local fair, not sure how accurate those scales are

With a SWB and 2WD, I think you should be a bit under 7K. I just noticed that you have an 01. That takes a couple hundred more off. check out http://www.klenger.net/dodge/2nd-gen-reference/towing-charts.html for 2001 weight and towing specs.

My truck scales at 7000-7120 with me in it and a half tank of fuel pretty much every where I've scaled it.

I had mine weighed at Flying J in Cokeville, Wyoming. It weighed 6590 without driver. That included my toolbox and two mountain bikes.

When truck was bone stock, full of fuel, it weighed 7K flat. No accessories, other than a poly bug guard.

My 2002 with me, wife tool box and hitch weighed 7360#. My 2004 SRW 1T Quadcab with me, wife, toolbox and hitch weight 7630#. These trucks aint light!

My '96 2500 4x4 with full fuel and me wieghed just shy of 7700lbs.



I had another 1000 lbs of tube sand in the bed to smooth out the ride and to make the Cummins work. Got 19-20mpg regularly.

I had my truck weighed for CA reg. , with me, a nearly empty tank, and a gooseneck hitch, it came in at 7320#.

EMD diesel power, Be sure to remove the tube sand in the winter if you are in an area that gets freezing weather. The tube sand will get wet and then freeze solid. You have no idea what that tube sand becomes if you have an accident or something causes that tube to leave the bed of the truck suddenly. One thousand pounds of frozen sand acting as a missile is NOT a good thing to happen. It will go right thru the rear end of the truck if it gets airborne.

Dont have the truck anymore... . but yeah, I did remove it for winter months... . didnt have a way to secure it down. Heck, even in the summer months, it probably wasnt smart running it... still unsecured.



I did have a BW turnover ball hitch and planned to make a framecage of sorts for the sand in winter, but never kept the truck long enough to make one.



I've seen what loose/breakaway cargo can do in trucks, big-rigs, and trains... . and you;re right, its not a pretty sight.

mine was 7400 lbs both tankes on E spare tire off and tail gate off. but then im 4x4 with a 2nd fuel tank. back then she was running stock tires and no lift... oh yea and it has a 5th wheel and gooseneck hitch
