Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) how much for a used Transfercase??

my friend totaled his truck and iam wanting to buy his transfer case but ive heard different prices of what they go for used. Its in a 2001 2500. ive been told around $300 for it so thats what i was gonna offer him . thanks, Greg
