The VP-44 has in internal relief valve back to the tank, set at 14 psi. How big is the inside diameter of your fuel line inlet to the VP. When I installed my FASS, I widened my VP inlet from 1/8 to 3/8 inch because I wanted greater volumn to be available to the pump besides the pressure. I've got 131,000 on my VP with no problems with this configuration.
If you can increase the volumn of supply, you can then drop your pressure down to 15 psi and that will put you in the ball park for staying out of harms way.
Bill, when I went to AN-6 lines and had a pusher pump 7psi 100GPH I was at idle about 22PSI,20 running down the road, and 15 at WOT with everything on. I ran for 3 years no problems. Since then I went to FASS.
