Competition How much horsepower did you see from your Water/Meth set-up and at what %

Competition Biggest 24v injector

I have been playing with the Snow stage 2 for a few months now but not to extensively since I still haven't O-ringed yet(working on it!) but what increse did you see? I got about 60hp at our last dyno with about 50-50 mix, a friend uses Alchohol and I think I saw a 90hp increase once on a stage 1 system he made himself. What's to expect?

Jared

I see about 57hp on my Snow kit. I have seen as high as 70. Usually 50/50. 70hp with 60meth/40water but temps get high.

50-60 hp is about right, you could get a little more but I never could break 60 on my truck, on others I've done 70. More meth means you will have to have less static timing. The 3rd gens with no timing in there box and a 75% mix have gained 110 hp, remember the meth acts like adding timing.

meth adds alot of cylinder pressure though, thats one reason i say away from it on the drag strip. for me nitrous is less taxing

I asked this question over on the Cummins Forum, SnowTech3 responded by PM.

I'm at 307hp now, with your system would it be advisable to get head studs or rings?

With your system I’m guessing it raises cylinder pressures a bit:lol3:

Actually, it really doesn't raise cylinder pressures that much. With the 50/50 mix it does somewhat, but not dramatically. The water conditions the cylinder pressure and lowers it, but extends it out over a longer period. Longer push on the piston, even if it is lower, equals a greater power output.

Base your decision to stud or not on the power level you will be at, etc. - we typically get 50-70hp increase on a Cummins.

This past summer, Dad did ~375 on #2 and just shy of ~430 with windsheild washer fluid - straight out of the bottle - I have no idea what the mix is on the normal blue stuff.

His Snow water/meth kit is max'd out with the biggest nozzles included with the kit. A few weeks before the dyno run, he ate a ~200,000mi headgasket messing with this and high boost. He now has fire rings and 12mm studs and goes easy with the 'juice' in the old snowplow truck. :-laf

With the timing I'm running I can't run more than about 15% meth. "One gal water mixed with one gal blue -20* w/w fluid" I'm using three 15gph nozzels at 150psi with good cooling and making about 25-30 hp.

I gain 35 hp from my snow stage 3 with 50/50 mix. Suppose I would gain more if I backed the timing down to 18 or so? Then I could run like a 75% mix safely?

Something is not right, low pump pressure ect. It should gain more than that, I've peronally never seen one do less than a 50hp gain.

I am running both of the 625 nozzles. Suppose I should get the 220 psi upgrade or is there something wrong with the setup I got?

You have the small pump? Yes I would not run anything other than a big pump, I ran two big pump back when I had Twins.

Hey Jim, where is my Silver bullet 66??

Talked to Doug a week ago about your truck and he and I agree that a SPS 62 would be the best choice for you at your power level. That turbo has done 600 on a C/R with no N2O, it will be toasty but will act better than any other turbo.

Did you get the transmission done yet?

Jim

On Snows website, it has a valve that is used to prevent boost going down the water/meth tube. Do you remember when you bought it? They say that pumps bought after Sept 05 dont need this check valve. Also, you might want to think about a 220 psi pump

hope this helps

I am running two 625ml nozzles and the big pump but the fittings at the "T" seem to leak alittle. Set to come on at 25psi and full on by 45psi. If I can get 65-70 out of it with the new fuel set-up maybe I'll see 600hp, that would be pretty sweeet...
