Last year I put a Ofe in my truck, I was hesitant about the FE and didn't plan on going over 425hp now I am at 460+ and am putting in 150hp EDMs next trying for 500hp will it hold? I don't drive very hard and It has never slipped on the street. Will it hold 500hp? Called Peter today and talked to Woody he said he had seen a 6sd truck put out 520hp at May Madness last year. Who was this and has anyone else gone over 500hp and survived?

Thanks Jared

Dont know the truck your refering to, however it wouldnt matter much in your case anyway. Each clutch is different and because it holds in one truck doesnt guaruntee it will hold in your's. SBC website says the OFE is rated for 450HP and 1000 lbft of torque. I am sure it would hold what you have atm but for how long no one would be able to say with certainty.

I think unloaded it might be plausible. But if you start towing heavy loads it's just a matter of time...

Just passing what I have posted in another thread. At the rear wheels I am at 485hp, and my Fe does not hold. It may hold in your case, but in mine I can slip it. Not always but sometimes... ... ... . I am heading for a double.

If I remember correctly. . or what Peter(SBC) told me when I ask him about my Con OFE 13" clutch and its holding power. He said that BPine has this clutch in his truck and he has seen the dyno runs of a little over 500hp.

This may not be the norm for this clutch but... you would be surprised!

I can smoke mine with the new motor in 4th and 5th. Never dynoed this one so I don't know what HP it is putting down.

Mine holds just fine. IMHO it has a lot to do with how the clutch is used. Don't powershift and makesure the clutch is locked up before applying the HP :D

As mentioned above it depends on the truck and your driving style. My STOCK clutch held up to 500 hp on the street as long as I didn't abuse it. Holeshot's, sled pulling, tires spinning on a slick patch then hook up, all of these things would cause it to slip but rolling into it on the highway it always held. I'm currently installing on of Peter's DD's so I can have a little more fun :D
