Gauges - how long/difficult to install?

Stacks / Stock Exhaust ... want to run both

I know there are alot of daily driver trucks out there running twin turbos. I would appreciate it if those of you who have trucks with twins could tell me what kind of setup i. e. home built, J. R. , Piers, etc, and how much hp you have. I'm not interested in the 700 to 800hp race or pulling trucks, just the daily driver stuff.

Thank you.

I guess it would really depend on how much fuel your pumpin and charger confuguration. But I would probably have to say 550 or so, conservativly.

I have PDR twins on mine almost a year now. My truck is daily driver/work truck, I have about 21000 miles on the twins already. I tow pretty heavy all summer (Sunnybrook 3310),drag race on occasion, sled pull whenever ican. and plow snow all winter. My last dyno was 603HP at TIM 04. I think this is a reliable setup now that the head is staying in place. We'll see how long it lasts, but i have no plans to baby it when its hammer time. I dont beat it daily, just drive it,and im very gentle with it until its hit 190 degrees. If i never raced id drop to a Don M mach 3 or so and put about 530hp or so out,and that would be perfect. I am able ot tow my WHITE sunnybrook 300 miles in 90 degree weather with mach 6s, with no soot on the trailer, thats how clean those huge Don Ms are.

I'm running a set up from JR. It dyno-ed 505Hp/1052ftlbs with out building full boost on the dyno. The last two weekends we have been towing with it. Two weeks ago was the first chance I have had to tow with the set up. We grossed about 23k and ran with the Drag comp on 3x3 the max EGTs for a 300 mile trip was about 1200°, this was running 70 to 75 mph on the interstates in IN. This weekend we grossed at about 20k on another 300 mile run and ran with the box on 5x5 the whole time. I still could not get the EGTs over 1200° but the truck did get up and mooving a little quicker. I use the truck as my daily driver as well always running the box on 5x5. i have close to 8000 miles on the set up now. This set was planned to be a daily driver and tow rig. I was planning on having to back the box down to keep EGTs in check when towing but it is not necessary. :D :D I believe I have 500 fully useable towing Hp.

Ryan - that sounds like a great setup you have there. What kind of boost are you making on the street with the box cranked up?

Right now I'm at about 700 or better on fuel and add 50-60 for water on that and I do daily drive it when I'm at home.

The best was last fall when I was at 700 total hp and drove from here to Piers's and back then to the Texas TDR rally... ... 6500 miles total, time frame was from 15 Sept to 15 October.

Jeff and I installed a set of twins on a friends truck and he dynoed at 505. That's with Pro Flows, Edge Comp and 54 lbs of boost. Charlie does not baby the truck and is still runnin the stock head and gasket. He's had it on the drag strip and sled pull. The setup has a 40 on the top with a 55 on the bottom. One of the smoothest spoolers I've seen yet. This is on an 01 2500. . As nice a street setup as one could want. Milage? Ohhhh, around 21.

Come west young man and see if your theory is correct at elevation :-laf . Thin air does funny things to egt's and usable hp. Another problem most run into with usable hp is water temps.

The thin air may(would) change things. The water temps the past two weekends never went over 190°. I cant say that about the air temps going into the intercooler. There were several times when there was a 200° difference in air temps across the intercooler.

The milage went up 1mpg when I went to twins from a moderate single. I am now right around 17. 5 to 18 which is what the truck got in its stock form.

It looks like 500 hp is about where a normal set of twins would be. A little less for a small set with a 35/40 hybrid. So 450 is probably about right for a non-smoking conservative type truck. Excellent!

When the "twin" growth hit my truck ... it will have to be suited for a daily driver. The twins that will have will be the hx35/HT3B towing twins that BPine is running on his truck...

They are not so much for a daily driver but when I tow our 5th wheel and I really need the air to flow. .

Hey Ron,my truck is a daily driver, with a 35/40 hybrid and an HT3B on the bottom,I last dynoed the truck last year when I ran a 12. 6 at 110. 0 it dynoed at 610hp It is now running in the low 12s a 12. 2 with the same set of twins. On #2only. I have not dynoed it since. I'd expect the power to be up near 700. I'll let you know when I dyno again. Merv

Merv, your 110mph trap speed is in the same range as my 111. 2 mph trap speed, im at 603 RWHP, So i tend to believe your in the 600hp range. 700 hp trucks in our weight range run 115+mph trap speed.

Hey John,I dropped over 4 tenths of a second I got to 110 almost half a second faster. Wouldn't you think the power would be up, to do that. :) By the way its good hearing from you. Merv

Merv, good to hear from you. Actually you got there 1/2 sec quicker, you didnt go any faster. If you had more Hp would have gone faster, since you werent out of gearing. . Trans tuning, launching boost,as well as many other little things have an effect on ET,but very little effect on MPH. The mph is a good indication of hp that doesnt change much.

For Chipstien,Its a HT3B with the 27cm housing. John I may be wrong, but if two trucks left at the same time one gets to the end of the 1/4 a half second faster, and both cross the line with the same trap speed, the quicker truck has more horsepower. Please if anyone else as some insight, into this discussion, please chime in.

I do not see how it is possible for two trucks to leave at the same time and have the same trap speed but one is a half second faster.
