Just filled up for the 1st time in several weeks.

$3. 759 / gallon less $0. 10 / gallon for the first $100 at Frys, which used Flying J fuel. It's interesting because Frys sells Flying J diesel cheaper than Flying J does.

$3. 82 at the cheapest place in town this AM. Everyplace else at $3. 98. Filled up the transfer tank since it may be the last sub-$4. 00 I see for a while.

So does anyone know why Diesel is more than Gas when it cost less to make it?

Right now they have an excess of gasoline inventory. Highest in a long time and the margins on gas are squeezed right now. Unless something happens with crude prices by May you'll see gasoline above $4. 00/gallon.

Still some demand on distillate stocks because of home heating oil demand. Shorter supply equals higher prices. If crude doesn't go higher I expect diesel to level off or even possibly go down a couple of cents by May. For the next month I expect diesel to trend upwards though not as drastically as the past couple of weeks.

If crude prices rise further all bets are off!

4. 05. 9 in Central East FL. Had we built Nuclear power plants and new Refineries 30 years ago we would not have this problem now. The IDIOT Tree Huggers would not allow it. They want no pollution so think they are forcing the auto industry to produce non polluting vehicles. They have no idea how to do it, they only know they want it. The higher prices for gas and diesel go the happier they are. The hardships they cause people on Social Security and low paying jobs they care nothing about. Politicians might act like they care but you can be sure they only care about their agenda.

It's not all about tree huggers, though I used to have a "Save a Tree, Shoot a Spotted Owl" bumper sticker. A lot of it has to with NIMBI, not in my backyard. Short sighted political "leadership" also plays a role.

We need a real leader in this country to address energy independence and other issues. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the current front runners for President are up to the task.
