Depends what the intended yse is. If you are going to drive it on the road only then I would guess 4" would get it. But to wheel with 35"s it would take 4" then some fender trimming. I have 33x12. 50x 16. ds on my truck with 2. 5" softride springs. They will not rub under street driving but if I try to wheel it they will rub hard. With the 4" you will need an adjustable drag link, and a dropped pitman arm or the spacer along with new shocks. Really adds up after a while.

I just finished a 4" Skyjacker lift on my '92 (pics in readers rigs) and put a set of BFG 235/85 R16's on it that stand 32 inches high. I think that 35's would fit no problem, however, mine is a dually and rear spacing would have been an issue.

As mudcat stated if you are going to do any "serious" off roading with it you may have to trim a bit or go a little higher than 4", but otherwise it's plenty. He is also correct about the drag link and pitman arm having to be changed with a 4" lift, also the sway bar brackets have to be dropped, and new shocks all around so it wasn't cheap. If you're still interested, PM me and I'll give you the info on where I bought mine, they were the least expensive that I found and they shipped everything quickly.

pitt man arm

what if we dont change the pitt man arm cuz i installed a 4" lift on my 92 n after we were done da pittman arm was aight so we didnt change it just tat da steering wheel was a lil off set, but i do have da pittman arm 4 it tho

The problem with the pitman arm is this; if you don't correct it after lifting the suspension it will be nearly maxed out travel-wise. The first time you flex it, it will either pop out of socket or bend something or you get the idea. Not to mention it will have terrible bump-steer. Very good idea to do something with it.

I tried driving my truck after the 4" lift but before the pitman arm drop, it turned right just barely enough but it didn't turn left nearly enough. In other words it was not drivable without doing the pitman arm. Once the lift and pitman arm was done, I had to get an adjustable drag link to straighten out the steering wheel.
