How much suspension and or body lift does a guy need to put 38" ground hawgs under his '97 Ram 2500 4x4 clubcab? The truck is new to me and has 100000 miles and an auto trans. How do you calibrate the speedo after doing this? Any suggestions for a lift system would be appreciated. Thanks, AdamP
 
At that point I'd just go for the 7" full Skyjacker lift with the Skyjacker coilover shocks... they look sweet. Just get the regular system, though, not the Flex systems. Superlift makes a Tru-Speed calibrator for your speedometer to recalibrate for your new tires.

Im planing on lifting my 98 2500 I have looked at alot of lifts but the lift that I. m planning on going for is a KORE Suspenison they are more of a racing suspension, it lifts your truck so you can run a 35 inch tire not a 38 but if your going for a tall boy then go for the skyjacker but the kore you can hallass over the dirt checkem out

i have 6. 5"s on mine w/ 37x12. 50x16. 5. go w/ the skyjacker 7" kit! i did the 4. 5" skyjacker then later added 2" more, but if i could do it over i would do the 7" kit.
 
I put the 4. 5" Skyjacker on my truck, but have since switched the front to air bags. I've got about 6" now and am running 37s. I agree with Jong just to get the regular and skip the Flex system. The Kore system is sweet, but it is pricey.
 
I'm curious... I just a bought a '95 club cab... it currently has 35" BFG M/T's on it. There is some slight rubbing at the rear of the RF fender during harder right turns, but not terrible. As far as I know the suspension is stock.
 
Thanks for all replies. sounds like the sky jacker kit is it, maybe the Dick Cepek, we shall see. I never have done shopping for lift kits or wheels before, so i am new to this. Those Ground hawgs are available with 16 or 16. 5 wheel size is there and advantage to either size and is there and affordable rim that is e rated? Thanks AdamP. Bone stock 97 ctd club cab work truck.
 
I like the links better on the Dick Cepek lift and its cheaper I think. I like the looks of gound hawgs but unless you are a mud bogger I would find a diffrent tire
 
TJSHOTROD, What did you use for your rear suspension and steering dampener. How come the 7" skyjacker coils? The toyos probably are the saner of the two tire types. Thanks AdamP.
 
I would go with some other tire than the Ground Hawg as well. I think in a 38 they are either a C or D load rating. My personal fave in big tires is the Super Swamper SSR in a 37. It is a 10 ply tire with an E load rating, rides well, doesn't really flatspot overnight, and wears well. It also isn't nearly as expensive as Toyos or Nittos and looks good too. Cepek doesn't make lift kits anymore either, they sold off their rights to some other company. Skyjacker is well established and makes good products. Make sure no matter what kit you get at 5" or more you will have to clock your transfer case down to relieve your front driveshaft angle and get extended stainless brake lines. Both are available from Skyjacker (one stop shopping). I'm waiting for Don Thuren's 2nd gen kit with heavy-duty extended front radius arms. It should be one bad donkey setup when it's released! :cool:
