How much oil????????

The factory manuel for my 93 says 12. 5 quarts of oil in the engine, I put 11 qts. in my 97, along with everyone else i talk to.

What is the deal??

Our 1st gens take 12 to 12. 5 quarts. As far as the difference between the two years. I don't know. Most likely the newer one has a smaller oil pan.

I always just used 3 gallons. I think my 24v calls for 11 but I use 12 anyways, 11 in the engine and one in the filter.

I just pour in the three gallons and call it good for another 5000 miles, Fleetguard also. Glen

I dump in 3 gals and call it good. I now use Napa gold filters, I can get 3 or 4 for the price of one Fleetguard through work.
