How much power can you get by sliding the stock plate on a stock 180 horse? How much power would the 215's add over this?

dyno at stock 96 automatic 133hp at rear wheels. Slid stock plate all the way forward mae 159 hp. But torque curve went from a fairly flat to a very peaky curve. Hope that helps

I've heard you can get between 40&60 hp
with 215. It made mine perk up enough
to just leave it there. No need for more.

6BT,

Here is a little plate sliding story. I ordered up the 230/605 plate & put it in centered. Wholly front end lifting, rear end squirrely, smoke & acceleration. #ad
I thought, "why not upgrade, got to be better" #ad
So I ordered up the #11, 685 plate. I went to take out the 605 plate & discovered it was the #8, for the automatic pump.
http://www.dieselpage.com/tstpk.htm

I dropped in the #11 centered & wondered what happened to all the torque. #ad
I opened it back up & slid it all the way forward & got the top end of the #8. The bottom end was real good, so I left it that way. The answer I got was that the #8 is too hot, but couldn't ever get what that meant. The link to dieselpage says it all, the #8 is a 340hp plate, centered.

The #11 centered is 280 & slid all the way forward is equivalent to the #8, centered. By the seat of the pants of course.

Mark @ TST verified what I found by stating that you can expect 40 to 60hp by sliding the plate all the way forward in the 96 & 97 pumps. I found that to be true, 280+60=340. Keep on sliding but watch the EGT guage. #ad

Hey Adam, nice broken hitch picture. #ad
I'd guess you've got a solid piece in there now.

What about fuel mileage sliding the stock plate? Also what rpm is the peak torque?Another question is has anybody dynoed it with the plate forward and have it on paper?

I did dyno my #11 all the way forward before putting the 370 HP injectors and 16CM2 housing. It dyno'd at 342 HP. Sliding the plate all the way forward didn't effect the milage at all unless there was a power stroke around. LOL Guages are a needed if playing with slide the plate.

I've slid my stock plate and AFC housing forward. That is the only pump enhancement made to my truck. I'm also running the K&N RE-0880 filter and a straight pipe exhaust. I pulled a 283 peak horsepower on a Dynojet. Peak horsepower was around 2450 RPM's in fourth gear.
Here it is on paper
This is on a 97 Club Cab 3500 with the 215 engine. Stock plate and AFC housing moved forward.
