how much power will G56 hold?

just wondering how much power you have thrown at your G56? i did a search but didnt come up with much. think i'll be ok with the mods i have? thanks... james :D
 
I have been told by my trans guy that there may be a lube problem (he does work for a dealer and they have seen some early ones already), he also told me to start saving for a clutch as it is not capable of much more than stock.....
 
there was supposed to be some sort of big write up on the g56, but I have heard thats been coming since last summer, so far never seen anything in the TDR mags yet. So I guess noone knows or are willing to say since the article isn't out after all this time
 
mines in the dealership that i work at getting a new clutch put in it now. i will be buying the new con FE from SBC pretty soon just needed something for now. maybe ill get another six months out of this one. :-laf
 
what wasn't wrong with my 04. 5! last year it was at the dealer for over 6 weeks while they tried to fix my injector problems(finally got fed up and had the EDM's installed) last year when truck was bone stock transmission died and truck got towed to dealer. after they ripped the transmission apart twice they found out it was a computer problem. 2 months ago the transmission went again. dodge sent me home while they waited for parts(TC, valve body and clutch kit) transmission died next day and got towed back again. got the truck back a week later and it still shifted poorly. truck went back in. they said the bands were out of adjustment. got the truck back again 4 days before i was leaving for florida. i picked by boat up at the canvas shop 10 miles away from home and didnt think i would make it back! when truck shifted to second it sounded like somone was taking a sledge hammer to the transmission. dodge wanted to pull the transmission apart again. thats when i put my foot down! enough was enough. now the truck is somone elses problem!

WOW! I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, the new dodge is it any better and do you still like dodges after that?
 
so far the new 2006 is way better then the 04. 5! seats are better, doors feel solid when you shut them, less road noise, quieter, manual transmission tows boat great, no more stainless dash, its a blend of stainless and woodgrane, radio sounds better, get better mpg(17. 5 hand calculated driving US1 in the florida keys compared to 15mpg best ever hand calculated city driving on the 04. 5) headlights are way better, the back seat is awsome! the seats fold flat(we folded them down on our drive down to florida and my wife made a bed back there and slept with our american eskimo puppy)... ... ... ... . the only thing i dont like about the truck is: i think the air conditioner should work better. when i turn it on for the first time every day when i start the truck the condensor makes a loud bang! and the gear ratio of the G56 6 speed could be more highway friendly. it's nice when your towing a big load but when empty 70mph is 2200rpm. i guess american axel is working on a new ratio. they will be on my christmas list!..... james :D
 
No It Had Nothing To Do With The 2 Piece Flywheel Had To Do With The Crazy Larry Setting And My Right Foot. :{ Im Sure Ill Only Get About Another 6 Months Out Of This One But By Then Ill Have The New Sbc Con Fe :D

One More Note, That Dual Mass Flywheel Is Heavy, Just Got The New One In And Started To Pick It Up And Omg I Think I Pulled Some Muscles. :d
 
I have an 05' g56 w/ edge hot juice I run my truck pretty hard "empty" clutch seems to hold but a guy can brake anyithng if there hard enough. South bend does make a clutch for them now

I don't like the gear ratio either, although the NV5600 is slightly better, but towing a heavy load up a grade is awesome
 
I've logged about 3,000 miles since I put on the TST CR-R49, AFE II, and exhaust. I was real cautious at first, not going over 3/3 for fear of slipping the clutch. However, after getting used to the feel of the chip, and rolling in and out of throttle to avoid turbo barking, I've had the chip set from 7/7 to 9/9. I've not pulled anything yet, but I've done several full throttle big hill climbs, and have not had any clutch slippage yet. Granted, it begins to defuel as boost and egt's max out, but it seems to me that the G56 clutch is holding better than what I had been told... maybe just to early to tell yet. Has anyone experienced slipping with the TST and G56 combo? --Eric

It Only Slipped After I Abused It Though. :d

It sounds like the g56 clutch is tougher than the 5600. My 05 with 5600 and TST would not slip a bit until I threw on 35s and now anything over 3/2 will slip the clutch. My clutch has 22k on it but it has felt the same since new, soft engangement. I can't wait for a SBC DD. ENafziger I would put in a fuel pressure guage if you are running that high on the TST. The stock intank pump is weak. I can pull mine down to 3 psi on 3/2. Shifting helps the fuel pump recover from wot.
