Planning on adding DD II's in a couple of weeks to my 99 Cummins. Currently am running just an EZ backed up by my DTT Transmission. (Best $4000 I ever spent)

Just curious what kind of improvement I will gain... Currently am totally stock except the EZ & DTT. I do tow approx. a #8500 5th wheel. Will the EZ\DD II's create heat issues while towing? I do have the EGT\ Boost\ Trans Temp\ FP guages installed & I do live at Sea-Level... . Seattle, WA.

Thanks In Advance!

DDII's

Clay, with the DDII's and a comp I tow my trailer all the time. Just make sure that the E-Z is on the LOWEST setting. You also need to improve your air into and out of your engine. I have the scotty II and a Rip's 4" ex.

Eric,

How soon would I have to invest in "Air In" & "Air Out" to control heat? I frequently pull over Snoqualmie & Stevens Pass and currently need to back out of it to keep EGT's around 1100 degrees. Wanting to improve performance, yet not force myself into more bombing to keep truck driveable while towing...

Power

Clay, the way to control the EGT's is the RRF (Right Foot Factor). You might not be able to go 85MPH over the pass but keeping the EGT's 1200 is not too hard. Till you are able to go with the Scotty II you could cut holes under the bottom of air cleaner, you could also put just a AFE fillter inplace of the stock box.

Regarding your "how much power" question, see my sig - 347 BHP and 762 lb-ft torque with EZ & DD2's on a Dynojet last month. Towing our 13,500 lb 36' 5th wheel, stock EGT's were 1300 degF. With the EZ (with boost elbow), BHAF and 4" exhaust, max EGT dropped to 1100 degF, primarily due to the boost increase from 21 PSIG to 30 PSIG. Adding the DD2's increased max boost to 34 PSIG and brought max EGT's back to the 1225-1250 degF range so far - the injectors were installed this winter, and the true story on EGT's will have to wait for some towing in the Texas Hill Country this summer when it's over 100 degF ambient temperature.

Ah that doggone slippery slope! :D :D :D

for your air intake try a BHAF, I paid $45. 00 it seems to work very well no problems so far.
