Installing Di/Pricol transmission Gauge

Turbo Gasket

I'm in the process of figuring out when I want to go with twins. Cost of the turbos is pretty simple. How much should I expect to spend on getting the headwork done and any other incidentals to make this a proper and (relatively) reliable install. I say relatively b/c with any mods there is always the chance of creating unforseen problems. Thanks. Also any reccomendations on turbos or who sells a system? I've looked at Piers since that was the name I see the most of on this board with reguard to turbos.

Piers used the stock head and bolts and he ran it pretty hard for a long time without a problem at 65+lbs. I believe he has studed it now, I think that the stock head, headgasket, and a set of ARP studs would be totally reliable at 70+lbs. If you can pull a head you can put head studs in. They are around 5 bills.

Thanks for the info. I'd prob be making around 70 lbs since for the piers kit I would be doing the Street set up. Are there any other people out there that make twin set ups that I should check out? I know I could do it myself for less but don't have the time and want to make sure that if I'm going to spend the money and time that I get the performance that I want.

I talked to Harry and they said that on the 3rd gen trucks they dont recomend the street twins with any more than average fueling because they say that it spools to fast? Not overspeed but spools to quick, I kinda got a little confused when he said this and just said "oh yeah" then he recomended that all 3rd gens get the comp kit.

Huh that's interesting. I do tow with it a couple times a month so hopefully the comp ones wouldn't spin up too slow. But I'm also running a 6 speed so if they spool up REAL fast I could really be jamming through those gears. Hmmm now you gave me more to think about.

Well if you look at the pricing list on the Piers site, they only list one system for the 3rd gens. Think the whole spoolup thing may have something to do with that? Guess I just need to get off my butt and call them huh.

I think this site does twins as well:

I'm really happy with my PDR setup; but I'm sure there are others. I fire-ringed, gasket upgraded and studs upgraded (about $1300-1500) at Scheids. I was too paranoid to run twins without those mods -- that and I'll sled pull with it eventually and then I'll be pushing the envelope. When the weather's decent I leave my tst at 9/6 and see 60-62 lbs quite often. No problems at all. At those fueling levels a WOT run will see 1550 degrees at 62 lbs of boost; measured between cylinders 5 and 6. But it's at the governor at that point (like; NOW) and you're backing out of it. If I leave the tst at 6/6 or below it doesn't go over 1200.

TST and twins, thats just begging to be DYNO'ed... come on, let your truck have it glory of the big HP number!! :D (and show us too)

Dyno'd once; but not able to get good numbers because couldn't get the turbos spun up on that style dyno. But still 470/925. I need to get it on a good load building dyno then I think it would be more.
