Picked up a tank of bad fuel. I drove on it for about 80miles and did encounter dead pedal. I changed filter that was full of junk, drained tank that looked like apple cider and all was good until... ... the drive home and more dead pedal. Got home and there was the 0216 code.

Fuel pressure gauge was pre filter[now post].

So how much longer can I go doing local, and do they just die?

98. 5 auto with puck,275 injectors,afe

Drain the tank and flush it with 5 gallons or so of fresh. New filter, 10-15 gal of fresh fuel, some good quality additive. And repeat - filter - fuel additive. Keep fingers crossed. Oh, drain filter bowl ever 10 miles or so if at all possible. Good luck, sorry not more info. Keep us posted.

0216 if I remember correctly means a fault stored in the companion module. I have seen several healthy trucks show that code over and over.

Your VP is probably ok, just drain and flush like above and you should be ok.

Bad fuel happens. Take your receipt back where you bought the fuel (or statement) and file a claim. Most times they will pay up with some persistance. If you got bad fuel than so did ____ other people, you dont have to prove it just join in the class action.

I made Texaco pay dearly one time :D for selling fuel out of a sand blasted fuel tank that wasnt flushed.
