Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) how much torque & hp on a 47re

hey guys, looking at putting some more hp, just for towing camper, need that extra muscle. truck is stock, Question is how much torque the 47re can handle to be on the safe side. and do i have to get more boost, when adding a chip. looking at the quadzilla xzt, edge ez , or super chip.

47 re is the weak point in the drive line in these trucks. if you add power to it you will be replacing the transmission soon. My has 444,000kms with no problems with the drive line. Im stock except for K&N and 4 in s. s. exhaust. I only tow my 3000lb. cargo trailer. Lots of info on here re transmission troubles. my 2 cts.

My 01 with 410s did fine with 275hp injectors. They gave me a little more upper end power and didn't slip the TQ. Then I added a VanAaken smartbox and it was Suncoast time!! This makes a great towing combo

If you can keep it around 60-70 HP, you will be ok for a while. But as with any HP addition, time will take it's toll.

275 hp bosch injectors work great for just a little pick up. I ran mine 40k and did not slip the t/c clutch untill my truck mr. Edge.
