My truck is coming up on 15,000 miles, and I was going to change out the gear oil. I don't tow that often maybe 10-15 times a year, if that much. I was just curious to know what others plan on a mileage change for moderate towing.

I have pretty much the same truck except with the 6-speed. I changed mine at 12,000. Was pretty dirty. I believe they recommend 15,000 intervals. I called AA and the guy said the first change was more critical. After that, every 30,000. Reuse the rubber gasket. It's a good one. I used the Mopar Syn. Gear Oil, for warranty reasons. They wanted $23. 11/Qt. , and I got them down to $15. 34/Qt. I could have put good Scotch in there!

I would do the initial one as Mr. Donnelly said... point being, I haid mine done at 15,000, and luckily had a really strong magnet attached to the diff cover, and the mechanic was surprised at how much metal it had grabbed

I was going to use Castrol Full Synthetic 75w-90. It's got the GL-5 stamp of approval as written in the 03 owners manual at $7. 53 a quart.

I did mine just before rolling over 50,000 miles and was suprised how good it looked. The magnet did it's job and there was very little glitter in the oil. I put Redline in it and I'll probably let it in there for another 50k. but I will check it in 15k, I was thinking I would get a large syringe with a rubber hose to draw some out for a visual.

Put on a Mag Hi-Tec @ 12K filled her up with Royal Purple probably leave it in till 50K

The front I will do at 30K I am sitting at 22K now

I changed mine at 5100 miles; it was still very clean. I used Mobile1 75W-90 synthetic. After I changed it, I noticed the asterick next to the word "synthetic" along with the disclaimer "excluding carrier oil". I'm hoping this is still okay to use??? Any opinions???

Just did mine yesterday @ 24k & surprised at how good diffs & transmission looked. Very few wear particles & I tow lots of heavy stuff. Put in Amsoil & will chg every 25k from now on
