In March of 2013, my 2005 Ram Dually had to have the TCA replaced. Truck was in limp mode.
While traveling in the Spring of 2014 it started throwing the 1753 and code again. I bought a cheap Scanner and it wouldn't clear the codes although the truck remained driveable. In May of 2014 I at 97750 miles got it to a Transmission Shop in Merrillville IN and the TCA AND PCM were replaced. The PCM cost me over $2K.

I hit a BAD truck rattling (shut down the CD player) construction single lane POTHOLE n I-10 in west Texas today (going work zone 65 MPH) and shortly thereafter the Check Engine Light came on and Cruise Control was slow to downshift on grades. Arrived in Van Horn TX and got out the scan tool again and have Code 1753 "Transmission Throttle Valve Mechanical Performance" Code once again. My Scan tool won't clear it...

Am I likely looking at another TCA - the third one in 3 years (hopefully not another $$$$ PCM)? Currently have 109347 miles on my truck. Hope to make it to El Paso or maybe Tucson on Monday.

If the Code doesn't go away or truck becomes undrivable, any suggestions for repair shops in El Paso TX or Tucson AZ?

Thanks!

That code sindicates a mechanical issue in the transmission, gov pressure is not correct for the set point. With thta many replacements I would guess you have an issue with the valve body. The throttle valve is the usual culprit with repeat problems like this. I would get the Sonnxr throttle valve fix kit and see if that will help.

BTW, the correct term is TTVA (transmission throttle valve actuator).

Thanks!
My cheap scanner wouldn't clear the code. Transmission shop found an initialization code and the P1753 on Tuesday. Their pro scanner cleared the code and restored functionality. They pulled the TTVA and bench tested it and being so new and in good shape they re-installed it. Shop owner says these malfunctions/"temporary disable" problems happen rarely, but he's seen it before. No explanation... So far, so good...
