How stiff is your stock clutch?

The clutch pedal on my 03 6sp has always been stiff. It takes almost twice as much force to push as my dads 05 with the G 56. My truck has the adjustable pedals as does my dads and mine just pushes hard. I'm beginning to wonder if an after market clutch is hiding in there but figuired I'd see how stiff everyone else's clutches are.

Mine has the same miles as yours, and adjustable pedals also, it is not hard to push at all. My wife has an S10 w/ 5 speed, it is just a little stiffer than hers if that is any reference to you.

Mine is really light, maybe slghtly stiffer than a toyota P/U.

The SBC clutch didn't make it any heavier.

I'm thinking I may have some clutch hydraulics ready to go or something because mine requires a lot more force to push down than my dads. thanks for your responses.

Don't have much to compare to, but my leg gets tired holding the pedal at signals. Will never go back to auto, none the less.

I own an 04 with 180K miles and one of our HD aftermarket clutches... . the pedal is almost 2x's the pressure as the 05 that I own with only 30K and a stock clutch...



I knew when we put the aftermarket clutch in the 04 that it would get a harder pedal... we pull a trailer that can weigh up to 22K lbs... and we didn't want much of a problem...



I use the exhaust brake all the time... as I pull up to a signal... the last thing I do is give it a little fuel... this allows me to slip it out of gear into netural... . as I see the other light go from orange to red I put the truck into gear and get going.....

I understand that when stopped we should leave the clutch out. I don't remember why exactly, but I think it's pretty important. Maybe someone with more knowledge, as to why, can chime in.

I am not a mechanic... . but holding the clutch pedal in all the time will cause the pilot and maybe the needle bearings to wearing prematurely.

I know a Dodge trany expert and will ask. I never heard that one before and with 4X4 its a lot more work to get to the pilot & throw out bearings, but then it will be a great excuse to install a better clutch. P. S. he alerted me on the new G56 before it came out, glad I listened

You are correct on damaging the pilot bearing if holding the clutch pedal down. As for a stiff pedal, mine was not stiff with the stock or southbend clutch.
