How strong is the 48RE?

Just curious how much abuse the 48RE can take? Will the guts have to be upgraded with anything more than a ~70hp increase like the 2nd gen autos?

I was at chrysler training recently and the subject came up,

before the 48re was designed dodge was running around a

couple of new rams with the allison trani and quess what

they felt it wasnt good enough, anyway based on what i heard

the 48re will be plenty strong, everything that the earlier ram

autos had problems with apparantly have been fixed. larger clutch

packs, 6 pinion planetaries, higher pressure and higher flow fluid.

i quess we will see.
