I cannot find the procedure for adjusting the valves on my 1999 24 valve engine. I know that I have seen the procedure listed here before but cannot come up with the correct words to produce a completed search. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The new search default only goes back 3 months, might be the problem there.

In a nutshell:

remove valve cover

rotate engine to #1TDC >> #6 valves will both be open (valve overlap)

Adjust 1I 1E 2I 3E 4I 5E

Rotate 360*, #6 TDC, #1 will be in valve overlap.

Adjust 6E 6I 5I 4E 3I 2E

At this point I like to go back to 1 TDC and double check the whole process. Not neccesary, but it doesn't take but a few minuets and I like to cover my arse.

Install valve cover.

Valve lash on the 24v's can be checked OK @ . 005"-. 015" intake, . 015"-. 025" exhaust. Set point is . 010" I and . 020" E. This is assumed on a cold engine, if I remember right the engine manual even states this as a "cold" spec. Some (myself included) like to run them a little on the tight side, but not out of the "check" spec. , if you go that way you might check in on them a bit more often that the suggested 100k interval.

Happy wrenching!
