Well, here's what I have always wanted to do to my '69 Coronet, and why I have held onto it for so long.

Motor: low-deck big block. Based on 400. Stroked to 451/474. 440 Crank/rods in 400 block. Ross domed pistons , eagle rods. Block O-ringed and decked down . 026" to produce exactly . 030 piston-to-head clearance (with . 039 gasket). Compression is a stout 14:1 static. Yes, you can do that on the street (on pump Chevron 93) if you set things up just so. Milodon oil system. ARP bolts/studs everywhere. Heads are Mopar Stage 6 with no porting. Cam is Ultra-Dyne solid (278°/. 570 lift), with Schubeck lifters and steel Comp Cams roller rockers. Pro-gear or RollMaster timing chain. Intake is Edelbrock Victor 440 (useable on Stage 6 low deck without spacers). Carb is a smallish Mighty Demon 750 with double pumps. Ignition is MSD digital 7 plus (w/ MSD coil). Timing is only 24° when full in (high compression needs less advance)

Trans is Pro-formance 727, with a streetable 11" converter. Rear gear is 3:55 or 3:73, depending on tire size. The plan calls for 275/60R15 tires, so we can use the 3:73.

The above combination will idle nearly stock, spin under 3000 rpm at 65, pull easy 11-second quarters, and get much better mileage than you think (over 16mpg) That's the main reason for the high compression- economy. That, and it gives throttle response you have to experience to believe.

Throw in a small hit of NOS, and a little more gear and you have easy 10s.

What say you all????? Sound like fun, or what?? WOO HOO!!!:D

add eight Diamond B 370s, and injector pump and a two HX35's, and with that CR you could have one noisy Powerstroke wannabee.

I would love to see that car run!
