I have 2009 so its different but I am sure the procedure is similiar.
There should be a drain valve on the filter assembly somewhere with a short hose on it. Open the valve and drain the filter housing. After the filter is drained just remove the cap on the top of the filter housing and pull out the filter. Make sure its all clean inside and put it all back together. For my truck I have to bump the starter a couple times to get the fuel pump to run. It runs when you turn on the key but bumping the starter makes it run longer. Do that a few times to makes sure the filter fills with fuel and then its done. Worst part is the mess but your filter housing is redesigned from mine and should be easier.
Edit:
Don't forget to reset the overhead, turn key on and push throttle pedal to floor 3 times within 10 seconds.
