Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) how to change turbo exhaust housing

i just talked to Harry at Piers and have a 16 cm non wastegated housing coming for my 95. Can anyone give me some tips about going about changing the housing? Thanks alot, Dean

Use lots of penetrating oil and you'll only be removing 4 bolts that hold the housing to the center section. If the housing does not come right off you can use one of the bolts to kind of pry the housing off the center section as you back it out. Can't remember which one, it's obvious when you have the turbo in hand. Also, just be careful to not damage the turbine wheel blades at all when removing the old housing and installing the new one. Overall a very simple job.

After you get the turbo removed from the manifold with the new housing in hand it will be pretty obvious where to take it apart. It may be stuck on there pretty good and the bolts may be as well so as mentioned, penetrating oil. When you pull the housing off, pull it straight off so you don't damage the turbine. thanks guys for the replies, seems pretty simple. will the pinwheel be centered in the housing by putting the four bolts back in stock location?

Yes, it's not the bolts that center it there is a machined ring that does that. The housing can also be rotated in ths ring to adjust how it is "clocked", you'll want to make a note of where it is so you can get it back in about the same place... ... otherwise you'll be wondering why your oil drain and intercooler pipes don't line up.
