How to check out a used CTD?

Hey Ya'all!



Friend is buying a used 1998. 5 CTD from a private party & would like to have a qualified mechanic check the vehicle out before making the plunge.



Any recommendations for such an individual or company in the Denver area.

Ask for a maintenance record?

Transmission fluid changed ever?

Mileage Per Gallon? Oil change intervals, what kind of oil? Air Filter changes?

Axle Oil changes?

Any problems with truck? Ever been wrecked?

Fuel filter change?

Has the engine ever overheated?

Has the engine ever died?

Has the Engine ever been modified from stock specification?

Get the VIN of the truck and check out the service history (if there is one) at the dealer...
