How to Clean Aftermarket Air Filter?

with all of the test on air filters that have been published, warnings from Cummins for three decades and dealer warranty denials for dusted engines on filters like the K&N that anyone, especially members this site would even think about a oiled filter.

to clean filter. place filter in trash can, pee on it, go to store and buy a 4" filter. problem solved.

Most motorcycle and ATV air filters use an oiled, dual density foam element and most people run an Outerware on top of that. These are best cleaned with dish soap and warm water.

My Goldwing has a big pleated paper filter similar to the Dodge-Cummins.

I agree with Carl Kelley. Best way to clean K&Ns and other oiled filters is send them out with the trash.

Had an AIRAID reusable I tossed it and got a paper one but the AIRAID came with a cleaner kit spray on let it set and wash it off with light hose pressure ONLY let it dry and re-oil. For some reason I get better mileage with the Paper one and NO IT WASNT OVER OILED but who knows why. Like the Paper one now it seems to catch more crud or at least seems to .

Maybe im just lazy, but it is a lot easier to take out the old filter out and put in a new fleet guard..... I had 2 Airraids, one was always clean and the other I would wash... . it just became one of those not so fun things to do... . so don't use anymore... change the fleet guard out every 10,000 miles, from what i read it is way to soon... just normal road conditions... .

Most STREET bikes use a paper filter. Just guess I didn't think I would have to draw someone a crayon picture for them to understand.
