how to clean aux tank?

i just got a 90 gallon aux tank. it has about 10-15 gal of old (mabey 2 years) gasoline in it. also it apears when i stick a flash light down ther that there is some light to moderate rusting inside the tank. how can i fix this and what should i do? i would like to use this take to just gravity feed into the other tank.

I have not used it, but it was recommended to me by some guys on a crawler forum I belong to. My tank is full of crusty goo. They said this is the stuff to use.

mount a filter like we use on the fuel transfer pumps and gravity feed through it, works great

Drop a match in it and run, and I mean run.



Just kidding. Drain the old fuel out and do what you want with it. Fill with water, simple green, agitate and flush her out good. Set in the sun to evaporate the water and then fill it with fuel. Don't forget to use a good filter with that tank.

p. s. this it how they clean fuel tanks on a ship and water is cheap then fuel now in days.

Don't laugh but I've seen guys that use some 1/4-20 non plated nuts and a few gallons of kerosene or diesel then shake the tank to clean the inside. Maybe a party with a few strong friends. Oo.

Eastwood Company also makes a gas-tank liner... I'd line any metal auxiliary tank before I put it into use...
