Exploring garage/shop options - pole barn or not for attached building?

My friend gave me a l shaped fuel tank. It used to carry gasoline but hasnt been used at all in about 7 years. There is a small amount of varnish in it. How should I clean it before using it for diesel?

IMO, if you're planning on using this for an aux tank for your truck, I'd take it to a radiator shop and have it cleaned and sealed.

Laquer thinner will dissolve it. Then make a venturi vacuum tube by passing air compressor air through a tee fitting. On the third leg of the tee put a suction tube into the tank. Fine mist[very flammable] will exit ,mixed with air. Take a shop vac and put air as deep into the tank as you can,and all the fumes will clear from the tank. As you may have guessed, this is not great for the environment, and smelly for the neighbors. I have acres of room for this,so that is how it works for me. Make sure that no smoking, sparks or ignition source is present.
