For the roof... ... tide liquid... ... . every where else, Gel Gloss. You can't beat it. In the shower, put a coating in there and you will love it.

Actually the best wax/cleaner is one that someone else puts on you rig. Barring that I second Gel-Coat. You can buy it at Home Depot cheep

What do you guys use to remove the bug splat from the front panel? It gets baked on pretty darn good and with most campgrounds not allowing the washing of rigs it stays on until you get home. After 6 - 8 weeks it nigh impossible to remove.

TIA

I have been using 303 Aerospace Protectant for almost 4 years now on all the outside of my RV. It help bugs come off easier, prevents the decals from fading, and makes the gelcoat look great.

I have never tried this but some swear by it:

"Take a new fabric softener sheet and put it in a spray bottle and fill it with water. Shake the bottle up. Spray the mixture on the bugs. Light scrubbing usually required with a wet soft brush. Or you can use another fabric softener sheet to scrub.

Some folks just use the sheet without the pre-spray. I've used both methods with great success.

I know it sounds crazy, but it really does work. "

Almost without fail, when I first get into a campground, the water connection starts with a brass gated 'Y', and one side goes to the trailer, and the other to a utility hose. By the time it gets to dusk, I happen to wet down just the nose, spray it with Simple Green, let it soak a few minutes, scrub it and rinse it off. I have never had any campground personnel complain. It is real obvious I am NOT washing the rig, and think I would win the argument if it came up. If you address it the FIRST evening after a tow, they aren't really that hard to keep off. Depending on the campground, I often do the nose of the truck too, but not always. .

I use to use Soft Scrub on the front of the Nash that we just traded in. I have a coat of big bugs on the front of out new Cardinal that I need to take care of. .

I need to put a good wax job on this one so that I dont have the bug scrub issues. .

For the front of the 5'er, consider using Mop'n'Glo. It's just one of many floor sealers. Apply with a sponge mop. It helps the bugs come off easier. I don't know how long it lasts, but I'm guessing it changes based on weather/rain, etc.

I haven't yet, but I'm looking to try others that may last longer.

Thanks guys for your responses, didn't mean to hijack your thread Jerky but hopefully the info is useful to you as well. I will certainly try the bounce sheet and water. On the previous trailer we had I used Soft Scrub to remove the black streaks. The trailer was aluminum, boy was that a mistake, took the shine right out of the finish.

Thanks again guys!

When arriving at a campground, I'll get up early on the morning after arrival when (hopefully) a heavy coat of dew is on the 5th wheel. If the dew has soaked the front end overnight, I can clean the bug mess off with just a bucket of water and the RV brush. If I have to do it the hard way, I'll use Dry Wash & Guard, which I use to protect the balance of the smooth gelcoat fiberglass exterior anyway.

After fighting black streaks on a bunch of different RVs I found by accident that

"New Finish 2001"

car wax removed black streaks while waxing at the same time. It is one of the better waxes I have found without getting into the $15. 00 a bottle stuff and a Consumer report some time back praised it highly. I have tried every whiz bang black streak remover on the market it seems and this works better than anything so far. I might have missed a few brands but not many.
