How to connect fan to manual switch on, Ideas?

A mechanic friend of mine did just this for a customer who requested it on an OTR truck. The fan flew apart at high rpm and mangled the radiator. Turns out the fan was only rated to certain RPM according to the dealership. Maybe ours are the same? I dunno.

I wouldn't think so, I know my comes on after I get off the highway and it stays on awhile thru the gears. Maybe 2k or 2500 rpm.

Can't tell when it is on while driving the highway tho.

This has already been done. If you haven't already, do a search here on TDR for this topic.

If I remember correctly the fan speed is controlled by the ECM by PWM, but I don't know the top limit of the fan rpm's.
