The best way I have found is to buy A smarty. You can read codes, calibrate speedometer, and put the turbo in overdrive right off idle. Best mod I have ever tried.

After reading this I am still a little confused... . Can my 98 12 valve speedo be reprogramed with a smarty?? If not what do I do to get it accurate?? Thanks. .

Should be able to, however caling the mfr andasking them would be your best bet
