Kotby Motors (Laramie, WY) replaced the LP 'bout 3 wks ago based on the pressures it was running at 78K plus some change, ~10psi down the road, ~12psi @ idle & around ~5-7psi under full load. Waited for the truck total of 2½ hrs (nothin' to do & no way to get home-live 45 miles from Laramie).

Noticed the a dead spot in the accelerator pedal between 1100-1400 rpm 3 or 4 times middle last week & Thursday. Called Kotby last Friday morning. They gave me an appt today at 1:00 pm. Showed up at 12:45 & was done by 1:26. It threw a 0216 code. I'm now on the waiting list for a new VP44. They'll call me when it comes in sometime in the next 10-14 days. 79321 miles on the odo. Fortunately, don't have to drive the truck much in the mean time.

My track was lp (warrantee), ff (my $85), cam position sensor (warrantee), VP (warrantee).

70,000 and code 2016, I think. First was the lift pump and a few weeks later, more stumbling/smoke. power loss and the vp was replaced under warranty. DC did a good job having the cheapened the VP to save a nickel...

I never received a call from the dealer, so I called them at the end of the day. They stated yes the IP is bad weve ordered it. i asked when would it be in? They stated we dont know until it gets here.

Is this true? Is a self employed landscaper who puts bread on the table with his truck just suppose to sit back and grow like a mushroom or cant they get an answer.

Check this out...

(See msg above from me)

Got a call @ 9:45 this morning. Kotby is on the phone & has my IP! "Are you kidding?" was the 1st thing outta my brain. Nope. They were as astonished as I was. "Could I be there by 1:00?" Sure can. I asked if it would help if I got there sooner. They needed to let the engine cool for a hour or so to be able to work on it. What if I was there around 11:00? Great. I got there @ 11:10. They had the truck in the shop by noon & I was done by 2:00.

Unbelievable.

Big Blue drives great. Mileage seems to have improved a little & power is better. Starts better. No hesitations. No dead spots in the accelerator. Cruise is smoother.

Kotby gets 6 stars as usual. ******

cyberranger; We both have ho engines could the ho engine be the reason different pump? and different availability? Could you ask them?

They were guessing it probably had to do w/ sheer luck or the fact Chrysler is finally gettin' caught up w/ requests. They said it had improved a lot in the past couple weeks. I do know they get the pumps from regional warehouses & it could be I just timed it well. Last Friday they said the nationwide backorder total was 125. In my case it could be I got one sooner b/c of lower population density out here in the toolies. They really didn't have definitive answer & probably never would.

well, took the truck back in. Had the pump replaced the same day. that's better. Engine runs WAY better now, sounds different, idles better, more power, smoother power, pulls to redline, no more strange clicking sounds from IP while under load, etc. I'm happy.

I am about to deal with this tommerow, talked to the service advisor today and quoted the codes and that the VP44/IP is having issues, about blew his mind. I guess most people dont quote the codes. Went like this:

"So I got your message, what is wrong with your truck"

"Well, it is showing codes 0216/1693 and will cut out (dead pedal)"

"Okay, is it drivable?"

"Yes"

"See you in the morning"

"Thanks. "

I got my truck back tonight, and it runs good, I don't think the service writers know a thing about codes. I also inquired about the new fuel pump as it was mentioned here that one dealer was installing the new tank pump with the IP installs. They did not know what I was talking about. Basically my truck went in last tuesday and come out tonight.

FWIW...

As usual, we got a call from Kotby Motors to check & see how our truck is running & if we are havin' any more problems following our IP replacement last week.

I have heard that also, new injection pump gets the in tank fuel pump. Anybody know of this being true? Bc I am out $145, I replaced the fuel pump on my own thinking that was the only probelm with the system at the time. Live and learn I guess, goes in tonight, so we will see.
