Howdy All,

I've been a member for awhile, but haven't been brave enough to post anything until now. My 95 has a pretty good oil leak coming from the gasket between the vaccumm pump/power steering unit and the gear case. It's to the point where I need to get it fixed, so my question is can I just pull that whole assembly out of the back of the gear case and replace the gasket or do I have to pull the front cover off and pull the gear to get it out? I would appreciate any help you all could give.

You can undo the 2 bolts holding it to the case and just pull the whole assembly. You may have to remove the oil feed line and possibly the power steering hoses to slide it out far enough to get the gasket in.

eschmitz: First, Welcome to TDR. Glad to have ya. .

There is a guy out there that sells a kit to repair this type of problem. His website is:

DODGE RAM CUMMINS DIESEL VACUUM PUMP RESEAL KIT

and he has an ebay auction for the kit going on here. .

eBay Motors: DODGE RAM CUMMINS DIESEL VACUUM PUMP REPAIR KIT (item 320154055244 end time Sep-11-07 16:59:01 PDT)

His kit includes a DVD detailing the repair, all seal tools, and a special 'wear' type seal made for worn pumps. I`ll have to do this soon myself i think... hmm

good luck

You can pull the two bolts and pull the vacuum pump and power steering pump back far enough to get the gskt off and use silicone on it to fix the leak when I do these even with a new gskt I put silicone on it for insurance there is also a bracket on the bottom that has to be loosened (1 nut)
